Nagase Specialty Materials (NSM) begins this year with new and updated Values that our Team created following Employee Engagement surveys in the spring which suggested that our Values, originally created for Fitz Chem 25 years ago, had evolved. NSM’s CFO, Laura Riffner, organized a volunteer “Tiger Team” of seven to explore: What is important to us? What values drive our everyday work? What values unite us?

I am very proud of our Team which took on this important task and has set a new compass for the organization. Several of the Values are time-tested, such as Respect, Accountability and Transparency. ITASCA, Ill., Dec. 15, 2022 -- NAGASE Specialty Materials (NSM) has appointed Abdul Aziz El Khatib as a buyer. The Bloomingdale-Ill. resident will focus on the industrial side of NSM, managing domestic purchasing and inventory for its Performance Chemical lines.

A native of the United Arab Emirates, El Khatib’s family came to the United States on a hot July day a decade ago and settled in the western Chicago suburbs. While at DePaul University, he did an internship with NAGASE Specialty Materials, where he was hired after graduation.

“Abdul demonstrated a passion to learn and grow with NSM,”  said Ray Winkel, Director, Supply Chain Management.

“With Denamer 1220, the unique combination of its hydrogenated bisphenol A backbone and hydroxy groups gives strong physical properties with good weatherability, adhesion, and the ability to react into hybrid radical/cationic-UV curable formulations where high green strength is critical,” says Jeremy Smith, Senior Business Development Manager at NAGASE Business Services.  “The OH-groups also serve as potential functional sites for reactions with isocyanates, for example, to produce acrylate-functional resins.  Denamer 1220 shows promising use in photopolymer 3D printing and additive manufacturing, inks, exterior durable hard coatings, photoresists, and adhesives.”

Christy Marcuccelli, a 30-year veteran of Nagase Specialty Materials, formerly known as Fitz Chem, was promoted from Account Manager to Sales Manager, Functional Materials. Her vast experience within the company will make her a valuable resource to customers and the sales team. Marcuccelli has exemplified her commitment to the industry by being a member, board member and officer of Chicago Society of Coating Technology, Chicago Paint and Coatings Association, and Wisconsin Paint and Coatings Association.

MADISON, Wisc. and ITASCA, Ill., Jan. 25, 2022 – Pyran, Inc. and NAGASE Specialty Materials (NSM) today announced they have partnered for the exclusive conversion of Pyran's bio-based 1,5-pentanediol (PDO) to renewable 1,5-pentanediol diacrylate (PDDA) and other acrylate and methacrylate derivatives. NSM, a manufacturer of chemical technologies and distributor of specialty chemicals, will produce PDDA and other derivatives in the USA and will market them in North America and Europe.
