Summary:

The position is responsible for maximizing Functional Material product sales within a specified geographic territory, achieving the fiscal year budget plan, enhancing territory profitability, and adhering to company sales standards while maintaining company values through direct customer interface. 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Primary responsibilities include:

  1. Achieve volume, revenue & margin targets outlined in the annual fiscal budget for the established geographic area.
  2. Develop a territory growth plan that includes regular visitation to existing accounts as well as the identification, promotion and commercialization of prospect accounts to grow market share.
  3. Utilize the CRM tool in support of that growth plan to effectively manage the business, including keeping timely and detailed account records, advancing opportunities and cultivating prospect conversion.
  4. Develop, maintain and progress a robust opportunity portfolio that consistently identifies new business opportunities at both new and existing accounts and appropriately leverages the CRM platform.

Regularly furnish call reports in a timely manner specified by management that contain high levels of qualitative and quantitative information that encompass pertinent account information

  1. and competitive market intelligence which can be disseminated internally and externally to drive increased awareness.
  2. Work proactively and collaboratively with Sales & Product Management to deliver on targeted customer and supplier goals for specific products, price, volume, and profitability goals.
  3. Provide sales management a monthly report of your activities.
  4. Establish a positive rapport with customers to be favorably disposed to enhance sales growth by maintaining a productive balance of customer interactions, including face-to-face calls, phone contact, virtual meetings, and email.
  5. Responsible planning for travel, customer & supplier meetings and overall expense control.
  6. Responsible for productive use of office time, with a balance of transactional/administrative tasks and time related to projects (supplier reviews, sales budgeting, variance analysis, etc.).
  7. Regularly renew and update existing customer forecasts, contracts, and other agreements for assigned accounts.
  8. Schedule supplier joint sales calls with customers when deemed necessary by self or management.
  9. Attend supplier training as directed by NSM management.
  10. Effectively collaborate on an inter-departmental and cross-functional basis to ensure that the needs of the company and the needs of the customer/principal are balanced.
  11. Participate in industry associations and related events as available.
  12. Maintain a safe company vehicle.

 Required Education and/or Experience:

  1. A minimum of a high school degree or equivalent.
    1. Bachelor of Science degree is preferred.
    2. Chemical product sales experience of 3+ years.
    3. Technical lab or other chemistry related experience is a plus.
    4. Competency in using database systems, CRM, and Microsoft Office programs.
    5. Ability to work effectively remotely, with little or no supervision.
    6. Ability to work effectively in a team environment with multiple departments.
    7. Able to solve problems independently with strong decision-making skills.
    8. Perseverance, patience, ability to sustain motivation long-term.

     Work Environment:

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as laptop computers and mobile phones. You will be required to make frequent visits to existing and potential customer sites or offices. You are expected to maintain a professional manner at all times while on these premises.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

    This is a full-time position. Working days Monday through Friday. Normal working hours with the occasional early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

     Travel:

    This position requires frequent domestic travel for business purposes. The frequency of travel will be dependent upon the sales geography as well as assigned business requirements. This position requires the ability to drive and fly for business purposes. Possession of a valid state driver’s license is required. International travel may also be required from time to time, so a valid passport is also a requirement.
